How to fix (not hang) canvas painting with wooden frame on wall
a basic canvas painting that is stretched over a basic wooden square frame
and the canvas is wrapped around and stapled to the frame..
/>Are you just supposed to put a nail up on the wall and then sort of set
the frame on it or what? seems like surely there is a sturdier way -
considering the fact that l am gonna put them on the wall just above my
bed, l feel uneasy about merely hanging them
I would suggest a Z-clip, or 'flush mount', or maybe even a
steel cleat. You can find them all here at this link -

These would be more secure than a typical picture hanger, or hook.
Another option would be a 'friction catch', or 'bull dog'. most of these are made to mount inside cabinets tho, so it would mean attaching a cleat to the wall, & the catch to the side of the cleat. My preference would be the thin flush mounts, or Z clip. If youve got a table saw & scrap lumber, you could make something similar to the steel cleat pictured in the link. Ive made angled cleats like these to hang cabinets on walls. Whichever method you choose, try to screw into a wall stud if possible. If you cant, then you may need some wall anchors. Have Fun
Monkey Hooks
do see Lee Valley Tools site for more advantages of these.
just search ''monkey hook'' left side of page.
. . . never mind did the search to check that they are still offered
http://leevalley.com/hardware/page.aspx?c=2&p=52367&cat=3,40914,50630 It is ''hanging'' but it is secure; simple & inexpensive to boot. You can easily make ur frame totally secure by simply puncturing (by drilling or using a gimlet) the inside/underside of the canvasses' frame where the hooks will be located, such that they seat well into them. (I don't know how handy you are or what tools you have, but don't be shy to email me if you'd like other instructions, using a table saw to cut 2 opposing bevelled strips of wood . . . quite simple with a table saw).
